Ever since he became serious with Christine, Henry vowed to not feed on humans as much anymore and found an alternative. He had bags of blood stored in a special fridge, purchased from an old vampire friend of his.

But that was when he learned a valuable lesson; vampires can get sick from impure blood. He rested on the couch, looking a bit pale and nauseous. It was not how he wanted to greet his girlfriend as she came home that day.

"Over here, my love," he called out.

"We're certainly an interesting match," Henry replied. "But I have no regrets. I want to build a life with you."

He wished she didn't have to take on a new job her heart wasn't completely in.

"I want you to be able to do something you really love and enjoy."

"I'm trying. Who knows, maybe I'll find something that I love about it once we start performances and all of the hard work is done."

She glanced over at him. He certainly couldn't go back to his house in this condition so her concern was making him comfortable in her apartment, which didn't have all of the features his place did.

"How can I make you comfortable?"

"The sunlight's getting a bit bright, so you could pull up some of the curtains."

In this condition, his usual endurance for sunlight was considerably weaker. And he wasn't sure if he had his sunscreen with him.

"And I'm sure you'll find that spark once you're on stage. You're brilliant up there, my love."

Christine fixed the curtains and then came back to the couch, at least insistent on getting him into bed. “I’ll take you home when it’s dark. You should be where you’re most comfortable.”

"I just want to be with you a little longer."

He gladly let her take him into bed for more rest, making himself comfortable and feeling a little better. "Join me, my love."

She nodded slightly, climbing into bed beside him and wrapping an arm around him. “I think this is where reality sets in,” she admitted. “We’re not having so much fun anymore.”

"You've been busy lately, my love. But my feelings haven't changed... I was going to ask you something but then I got sick." Henry sighed, snuggling closer. Something big, too.

Christine held him close trying to comfort him as much as she could. “It will be fine,” she said. “I’m figuring it out for both of us. You just get better.”

"I think it's starting to pass," he said with a weak smile. Henry had planned on proposing to her but then he got all weak. It should be done in a special, romantic moment. "It will be fine, my love. I've never been more certain of anything."

“Good. You can stay if you like or I can take you home if you need me to.” Christine smiled at him with no idea of what he had planned.

"I'd like to stay. Say, what's your schedule for tomorrow evening?"

He gently caressed her skin, planting a small kiss on her lips.

“I finally have a night off. Why do you ask?” she replied curious now.

[tasteforlife]

"There's somewhere I wish to take you, my love. A special evening for the two of us." Henry made sure not to reveal the biggest reason behind it.

“That sounds great. But let’s make sure you’re okay first.” She said. “We both need to rest and recover.”

[tasteforlife]

"We will rest. It's been a long day for both of us." He got a little more comfy, hugging her close.

Sleeping peacefully through the night had a healing effect indeed. Henry felt more like himself in the morning again.

Christine, on the other hand, was tired and enjoying sleeping in. She relaxed beside him content to be lazy.

“Feeling better?”

"Considerably."

Henry gave her a long kiss good morning, caressing her cheek.

"Your company always has the best effect, my love."

“Good. I’m going to soak in the bath and then get breakfast if you’d like to come. And then what’s this plan of yours?”

She asked.

"I'd love to join. And it's a surprise of sorts, but I assure you it'll be something you'll enjoy."

[fatebites]

“My boyfriend, always a man of mystery.” Christine laughed and walked to the bathroom, undressing as she went. “I thought magicians were supposed to be the mysterious ones.”

[tasteforlife]

"It's a matter of great importance, my love. A surprise that should be kept hidden until the very moment." He got up to go join her, undressing on the way.

"You always make everything sound so interesting." Christine laughed, his particular way of speaking made every sentence feel so important. She turned on the shower and slipped in, not wasting any time in getting cleaned up. She was just enjoying having the time to enjoy a long hot shower.

Henry took a moment to admire his girlfriend before joining her in the shower, planting a gentle kiss on her shoulder. "Must be that 1500s way of talking still stuck with me." And the fact that every word spoken to such a lovely woman should be meaningful and appreciative.

"I like that, though. It helps you stand out. You're not like anyone else I've ever known, in many, many ways." She relaxed next to him, handing him the washcloth when she was done with it. "Especially here so many people are so fake."

"I remember all those women at the ball.. How none of them had their natural figures and it's something I'll never truly understand. I'm an admirer of natural beauty." He began washing his body as he spoke.
